Here's examples some of our work:
New 16' x 20' Deck / 8' x 18' Sun Room (Roselle, NJ):
On the side of this post colonial era house was an open air country porch. This porch was weathered over it's years and exaggeratedly pitched downward (over 3" across it's 8' width) away from the house, as were many porches constructed in its day, to ensure that water drained off away from the house. Visual inspection showed that the floor joists were in useable condition.
The home owner wanted this space framed in to expand the living area of the home. They wanted a new TV room, separated out from the Formal Living Room. They also wanted a new deck to be constructed outside a rear door in this new TV Room / Family Room space.
The interior of this beautiful home was spectacular. Like a museum, it's, elaborate, finely crafted inlaid woodworking was pristine, in mint condition. To minimize the impact of new construction on existing living spaces, the home owner didn't want this structure completely demolished so that new construction could be put in place. This created the largest obstacle in assembling this contract.
Because the floor joists were pitched away from the house; in order to provide a flat, level floor in this space, we needed to cut custom shims that were then attached over the existing floor atop the existing joists.
This effectively leveled the structure so the new sub flooring beneath the new ceramic tile floor was flat and level.
Cedar shakes were installed on exterior wall surfaces to macth what was existing on the knee wall that surrounded this existing porch and the two boards that were too deteriorated were replaced new.
Beneath the new deck, one piece of the lattice that was used to close in the bottom of this deck was intentionally left open allowing the home owner to store his lawn care tools under the new deck.
They got exactly what they wanted for a VERY reasonable price!!! So will you...
Corn Hill Landing (Rochester, NY):
I was hired as a sub contractor to help with the framing on this very large luxury Apartment / Condo / Retail Storefront complex.
This development consisted of 208 apartments in seven separate wood framed buildings all connected to each other by walkways
or adjoining hallways. Most of the wall structures of these buildings were fabricated off site and trucked in.
These wall sections were lifted from the trucks and hoisted into place with cranes. 3 separate crews assembled these buildings.
As framing work wound down, I was reassigned to Punch List work repairing construction deficiencies, and making changes
that were implemented into the construction plans after the wall sections had been engineered and assembled.
After all framing, and punch list work was completed because of the quality of the workmanship that I had demonstrated,
I was solely given the task of fabricating and installing ALL of the vinyl sleeved hand rail assemblies in the entire complex.
Finally my last job assignment before all work was completed in this project was the installation of the seismic high density
expanding foam expansion joints in the finished brick work in all exterior walls.
Fairfield Inn Marriott Hotel (Henrietta, NY):
I was hired and worked as a subcontractor to help with the construction of this new Hotel in Henrietta, NY.
NY State Wine and Culinary Center, (Canandaigua, NY):
I was hired and worked as a subcontractor to help with the construction of this culinary training facility in Canandaigua, NY.
Extreme Home Makeover: Powell Family, (Buffalo, NY) Season 7, Episode 15, Aired 01/24/2010
This is the house that they owned before demolition started:
Normally, Extreme Home Makeover, does an "insane" demolition, blowing the house up,
or driving a monster truck or 6 tanks through the house.
Because people are finally beginning to understand that resources on this planet are growing scarce,
the Habitat for Humanity team, was able to convince the Extreme Home team to allow the Habitat Volunteers
to surgically extract as many bricks, boards, fixtures, door knobs, nicknacks, and anything else we could salvage,
to augment their inventories of used construction supplies that they offer for sale at the Habitat for Humanity "RE-STORE".
This was Extreme Home Makeover's very first "Green" demolition !!!
6 hours of salvage, THEN we cleaned up the rest with a dozer so that construction of the new house could begin.
We started construction, and framed out the new house very quickly.
Everyone there was working hard including one of the show's stars, "The girl with the pink tool belt": Paige Hemmis
(I was bad, I wasn't wearing my hardhat... I normally only wear my PDF Construction ball cap at work)
From demolition to "here's the keys to your new house..." in one week !!!
I thought the building was done, at least my part of it at least, so I went home to my normal work.
About lunchtime my cell phone rings and I thought someone was trying to play a prank on me.
Long story short, Ty Pennington, the star of this show, called me at work on my cell phone
to personally invite me back to help them build a few pieces of furniture
and do some of the landscaping and decorating!
I built this platform bed in the "music" room, and the chest of drawers in the "butterfly" room.
Not only did we work on the house we built, we did various improvements to the entire neighborhood.
We painted porches, repaired siding, replaced handrails, planted trees up and down the entire block,
and even built a small park down the street from this house.
ALL IN ONLY 7 DAYS !!!
Bottom line: with enough money and manpower, almost ANYTHING is possible !
Paupacken Lakes Decks (Lakeville, PA)
This customer had an old deck behind his house.
We had to demolish the old decks at the front and rear of the house, so that a new bigger better decks could be built.
We replaced all the old metal framed windows in the house with new double pane low-e glass vinyl replacement windows.
We replaced the ordinary hinged door at the back of the living room onto the old deck with a new
9' wide sliding glass door (3 panels, 2 sliders, 1 fixed center panel).
We did some interior trim work throughout the house.
We replaced the garage door and repaired the electrical circuit that supplied the post lights in the driveway.
We built a new deck at the rear of the house.
We built a new 10' x 10' cantilevered deck / 6' x 24' floating dock / access ramp, at the waters edge.
